Hail damage in my veggie garden

Last Thursday, just as we were getting ready to put the kids to bed, suddenly, pouring rain came down. The weather was so nice that day with 82F, storm, thunder and lightning with rain was a bad sign for the weather getting worse. Then with an exploding rumble, hail started. Kids got quite startled. It was torrential. I poked my head out of the door with a camcorder to film. Hail pieces were plum size. My mom’s car was parked on the street under the tree, but I couldn’t dare to run to the car and pull it into the garage. Hail lasted about full 5 minutes. When it ended, all neighbors came out of their houses, some checking out the hail, most checking out their cars. Luckily, there weren’t any visible dents on my mom’s car. I picked some hail, took this picture and showed them to kids before they finally fell asleep.

These were the spinach I picked from the vegetable garden few days ago.
This is the hail damage to the spinach. I don’t mind cooking and eating these. I always think about the farmers, after extreme weathers like this. We worry about the car. They worry about their crops.

I am a mother of two and a type of person who you would call “Jack of all trades, master of none”. As you might guess from categories, I love my children, reading, sewing, gardening, traveling and cooking. I also work full time so I have to be practical to do all the things I want to do in a 24-hr-day. More About Me
